Samal Island Underwater

July 22 and 29, 2006. Finally got the camera and underwater casing I ordered on the net! And so of course, the first two weekends found me at the beach. Still not time to dive, since I was only free in the afternoons, but this is what I got snorkeling/ skindiving in Samal Island, across Davao.

As you can see it's just as good above as below =D can't wait to go diving and standing under a waterfall. Or rain! All the possibilities....

Here are my first shots, no post-shoot editing.

  4. neen, asa ka nag-snorkel sa Samal? taga-davao ko pero wala jud ko kabalo asa decent places to go snorkelling... and how do you get there? from Sta. Ana wharf? special trips or may mga bangka going to the islands on a regular route? How much ang budget for a day trip? I plan to beach hop pag-uli this december. =D

  5. hi janus! true! maski ako, mas familiar sa cebu and visayas kaysa davao.

these pix are from paradise and punta del sol (between babak and pena plata. they put up a dive resort there now). ok man sa paradise, lots of fish, because they feed them. there's also a dive site there (may frog fish daw, but have yet to check it out). usually, what we do is hire a boat sa sta. ana wharf to go around talikud and pearl farm area. familiar na man ang boat operators sa usual stops. when i went diving the other week, paid P5.5k for the boat (good for 40pax), whole day na. usually you can set your own itinerary. but if you want to go around the WHOLE island, you'll have to pay more.

you can also just take the regular boat to babak (from sasa) or pena plata (from sta. ana) or talikud (from sta. ana, once or twice a day lang). but now there' s a bus from agdao straight to central warehouse in pena plata via ferry sa sasa (you can get down anywhere in between, of course), so very convenient na. barato lang man ang pamasahe.
