ReplyDeletethe problem is that the book claims at the very start to be historically and factually accurate, so people automatically assume that everything he says is true.
ReplyDeleteTo the unquestioning reader ..yes the "Catholic" Church has much to fear (and i stress Catholic because it touches on the vatican church, which is not the Christian Church. I don't see how the Christina Church should be bothered by this book). But to the questioning reader, my copy (a Canadian copy) says: description of artwork, architecture, documents, and secret rituals in this novel are accurate. They seem to be from my recollection ...except for one painting that i've seen. And that particular painting isn't that clear either. But it is true that many readers get caught thinking the whole book is true. Even my mother has fallen for some of it. But luckyly, it spawed her to read on "The Reformation" by Diarmaid MacCulloch and many other books regariding religious history. Her faith remains the same.
ReplyDeleteexactly.
ReplyDeleteChristians (esp Catholics) call it "deception"
