Boto Para sa Inang Bayan

Description:
A Signature Campaign to Stop Commercial Logging and Mining in the Country’s Natural Forests

The original forest cover of the Philippines has been reduced from 70% in the 1900s to barely 6% as of 1998. We continue to lose our forests at the rate of more than 100,000 hectares per year. Whether through legal or illegal means, the continued destruction of our forests by logging and mining operations
threatens the very survival of our people. Our forests provide ecological services and resources that serve as the backbone for rural development, economic growth, and poverty alleviation.

As we lose our forests to logging and mining, we are sacrificing the long-term sustainability of our country for immediate financial gain.

We call on the Government of the Philippines to
IMPLEMENT A NATIONWIDE TOTAL COMMERCIAL LOG BAN AND A NO MINING POLICY IN NATURAL FORESTS.

Ingredients:
We aim to gather 1 million signatures to send the message that we will not stand for the further destruction of our forests. Make your signature count.
