Kadayawan!




Indak-indak sa Kadalanan, Aug. 21, 2004. Unfortunately, i wasn't able to go to the other events =P in fact, i was only on the streets for about 5 hours in the afternoon during the streetdancing. So instead of me telling you about the festival, check out the official Kadayawan website. Or you can read some things i wrote about it in my journal at 4 a.m. hehe.

    Excellent picture! Very creative and it has the making of a photography prize winner. I still wish the resolution were better, but it is not bad.

    sure, how can i get a copy of your magazine? who's running the publication? very nice lay-outs. also have photos of kadayawan this year, though haven't posted them yet. and photos of davao underwater. too much backlog =P

I will let you know when the magazine comes out and if you are in Davao we can arrange for you to get a copy somehow. If you are outside - i guewss I can LBC them to you, just need to get your info. Please send me your photos from Kadayawan. Is this a second multiply account? Hype is published by 3 little musketeers trying to promote sports and leisure in Davao. Heehee

Being Brown... again

In 2002, I wrote an  #essay for one of my Sun.Star columns titled "It Ain't Easy Being Brown" . In March 2016, I suddenly got requests from university students in different parts of the  #Philippines  to interview me about this essay for their class. The essay wasn't online and they had to ask me for a copy, so I have no idea how their teachers thought to assign it as a text. In October 2017, I was contacted by students from yet another school telling me that they had chosen the same essay to make a  #shortfilm  on for a school competition. Again, no idea how they got hold of it. But since my essays are  #autobiographical , it was basically a film based on my life. Sharing it now because it's just so hilarious 😂 especially their portrayal of my parents. It's so amazing what kids can do with the technology these days. It Ain’t Easy Being Brown

Every time I walk down a grocery’s toiletries section, an overly eager, mestiza sales lady blocks my path, wielding the latest whitening product.
