making rain and singing the sea
it's another very merry unbirthday to me as i've gotten two amazing off-season gifts from cris in manila:
1) a rainstick from Palawan, which he asked a colleague of his to bring to cebu last monday (a very welcome addition to my meager collection of instruments--two kubings, Kahel, my bamboo flute from Lantapan, and Lila, my baby guitar from Carbon =), and
2) Joey Ayala's first album about the sea, Mga Awit ng Magdaragat! now this one was the greater surprise, because cris didn't say anything at ALL about it. it just arrived at the office this morning. autographed, too =) and i'd just emailed JoeyA asking where i could buy the album in cebu or davao.
cris, this entry is my big THANK YOU, a tribute to your generosity and thoughtfulness.
maypa ka neen da...
ReplyDeleteako regalo-i sad kog cd ni JoeyA ha...
thnx daan = )
way sapayan Jeen! I've never seen anybody who has an affair with the sea, and water, in general as BIG TIME as you do -- these cannot go to anyone else EXCEPT 2 YoU! and besides, Joey is Davao's pride...
ReplyDeletelovely gifts!!! and so you! =) pwede na jud ka mag one-woman band neen hehehehhe =)

hello po uli!
was delighted this morning to receive Awit ng Magdaragat in the mail from my friend, cris (also a dabawenyo), with your autograph =) he went to your launching last Monday. posted the invite on my website =) ang ganda ng cover!
but i still need to know where we can buy the album in cebu and davao, because people are asking me.
read some of your articles, too, on your website. sobrang funny! idol ko po talaga kayo =D have you considered maintaining a blog for your written work and email updates/ announcements (eto na uso ngayon, diba, lalo na sa mga journalist hehe)?
para sa dagat at kalikasan,
=) jeneen

In Davao Awit ng Magdaragat is at Karl's Koffee Korner (airport, SM, Buhangin) and somewhere in NCCC/Matina. Sa Cebu wala pa intawon!
The great looking cover is by Webmaster Jaku who, incidentally, is my, ehem, son :-)
I did try blogging but I get burned out easily. Nakaka-ikli yata ng pasensya sa prose ang pagsusulat ng lyrics.
Salamat Jeneen at Cris!
JoeyA
ganda ng rainstick maam.. -_-
ReplyDeletehi, neen.
ReplyDeletewhat does a rainstick do? =)
i'm glad your "family" is growing.
HUGS,
jemi
a rainstick imitates the sound of the rain so that real rain will come. it actually works! (unwittingly brought on a typhoon after turning it over and over for hours one night the other week hehe). although my rainstick sounds more like the waves lapping on the shore =)
