The Great Bohol Adventure




Nov. 27 to 29, 2004, Puntod Island and Antequera, Bohol. These are the pictures taken with my camera (not one of the many digital cameras and camera phones in the group i was with--still have to get copies of those pictures).


It was Roland, an online buddy i met here at Multiply, who told me about it. Kayaked a couple of kilometers to Puntod Island from Panglao while the sun set, watched the full moon rise from the really great beach of Puntod Island, kayaked again past midnight under the moonlight, dropped by Dumaloan beach (another great beach) in PAnglao, walked in the rain from Antequera bridge to Mag-aso Falls, rapelled off Antequera bridge to a river 100ft below, didn't get to go spelunking =( cebuweek.com's 3-in-1 adventure. sa uulitin!


PS will be writing a journal entry and an article on the experience. in the meantime, you can read this.

    parang i've seen this in a movie... i don't remeber lang which one... but i have really seen this one before in the big screen.

    hahahaa. actually...nag audition ako as leading lady for this cebuano film ni cesar montano that was shot entirely in bohol. hahaha. it's showing here right now. baka yun yung napanood mo- alternative reality. hahahaha

Being Brown... again

In 2002, I wrote an  #essay for one of my Sun.Star columns titled "It Ain't Easy Being Brown" . In March 2016, I suddenly got requests from university students in different parts of the  #Philippines  to interview me about this essay for their class. The essay wasn't online and they had to ask me for a copy, so I have no idea how their teachers thought to assign it as a text. In October 2017, I was contacted by students from yet another school telling me that they had chosen the same essay to make a  #shortfilm  on for a school competition. Again, no idea how they got hold of it. But since my essays are  #autobiographical , it was basically a film based on my life. Sharing it now because it's just so hilarious 😂 especially their portrayal of my parents. It's so amazing what kids can do with the technology these days. It Ain’t Easy Being Brown

Every time I walk down a grocery’s toiletries section, an overly eager, mestiza sales lady blocks my path, wielding the latest whitening product.
