Text Fire Brigade!
Description:
Here's another unwanted spam but helpful to everyone
especially this season. It started through the
obsessive texting of Gerry Chua, Mr. Ube Hopia himself
of Eng Bee Tin fame, who is also the communications
head of the Association of Philippine Volunteer Fire
Brigades, the dependable Filipino Chinese volunteer
fire brigade group who almost always get to the fire
first. And this is no joke, what with all the
disasters we have experienced lately.
It's called the TXT FIRE.
Now if you want to be really serious about it, why not
join the group and become a volunteer? We all know,
most of us can never be fire brigade volunteers, but
we can be atleast TEXT FIRE VOLUNTEERS. This will save
you from getting into those horrendous traffic jams
caused by fires, and may even save lives and
properties including your own.
At present there are 2700+ volunteers all over the
Philippines helping the fire brigade volunteers
respond even faster to fires. The system works, you
can try it (just no fraudulent reporting because it
can set off alarms), i did meet with Mr. Chua this
afternoon and saw for myself the system.
Unfortunately, it is not even sponsored by the Telecom
companies so we have to pay from 50 centavos to a peso
for the text we send but unlike those unsolicited
messages coming from our beloved telecom companies,
we're not charged at all for the replies.
Ingredients:
cellphone with load
a good heart
Directions:
All one needs to do is text
FIRE and send to 09186888888 (this will cost you a
peso or 50 centavos), and in 12 seconds or less, you'd
receive a report on any active fire. Or better yet, you can report a fire by sending REPORT
space to the same number. Of course this
will be verified by the local fire station.
To become a volunteer yourself, just send the following
through the same number, REG space space
.
For more information, please contact Mr. Gerry Chua
through 09189118888 (note the 911). Hopefully we can
pass this around to everyone we know and also the
media. By the way, the Association of Philippine
Volunteer Fire Brigade, Inc. Hotline is 522-2222 (you
can also report fires into this landline). Please make
a copy of this number in your directory. We're also
giving out stickers to those who want it.
