The Journey of Issa Cusi
http://www.issacusi.iamafilipina.com/
Issa Cusi is one of the leaders in my church in Cebu. We only met again last July, on the day Ana died, when I went back to church after more than a year since I'd left Cebu. We sat beside each other that day as we worshipped, me crying, and she remarking to her husband "Doesn't she remind you of Ana?".
Only at the funeral the next day did I find out that she knew Ana, too, from their couples bible studies way before I met either of them. Strangely enough (or rather, providentially, I guess), after years of not seeing each other, Ana had contacted her to be witness at a family conference just a few days before that fateful day.
She asked me if I wanted to be part of her daily text group. I said, Sure. Here are some gems she's sent me that I want to save:
Wisdom is the ability to do God's will in God's timing; and though we don't know exactly what the future holds, we can always say, "If the Lord wills...". Make your plans prayerfully and hold them loosely. And with every prayer request and every plan and project, give it to Him, saying, "Lord, if it be your will...". We don't know what the future holds, but we know who holds the future.
If your heart is full of God, then you have no need of anything. You are satisfied with God because you have an experienced awareness of God. -Mel Caparros
We have to learn to interpret the mysteries of life in the light of our knowledge of God. Until we can come face to face with the deepest, darkest fact of life without damaging our view of God's character, we do not yet know Him. -O. Chambers
This is faith that overcomes: to trust inspite of the look of being forsaken; to keep crying out into the vast, even if God is silent; to see the machinery of the world npauselessly grinding on as if self-moved, caring for no life, nor shifting a hair-breadth for all pleas, and YET believe that God is awake and utterly loving; to desire nothing but what comes meant for us from His hand.

So, true... yet, frail as I am human, i need to be reminded of this, repeatedly. I briefly, run through Issa Cusi's webpage and I've bookmarked it in not time. She does have a way with words -- almost divine and un-preachy. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteAna did leave us good company to live by... both from her passions and the people she bumped into!
